Don’t let slow business lead to a scam

IDK about other inspectors but I have only had 1 inspection in the past 2 months. As a result I almost fell for this scam. I included my inquiries with this person for you all to see. Poor grammar is always a giveaway

“Hello Sir Am Mike Allen by name . . .which I am in talks with the seller.” Sure you are! The house has a current listing but not under contract. This guy texted me two days in a row from two different numbers. Here is my reply: “You just texted me yesterday. Get your scam together. If you don’t have a contract to buy I’m not interested. There is no contract on that property.” There’s a lot of worthless people out there.

Recent scam attempt

October 27; similar as the other scams reported. client contacted me via texted, set up an time, asked if i can meet the flooring contractor there & if i would oversee and pay the contractor. I received an over night “official check” for 6 times my fee. they were very persistent and wanted me to deposit as soon as possible. Look the house up at it is still listed. Is there any way to report these or just be aware of anything that doesn’t seem right isn’t.

Scammer Check Do Not Fall For

A text message was sent to me to inspect a house in my area. In fact I just inspected it a month before. The texter wanted me to inspect on a certain date along with a MOLD INSPECTOR. My fee was set and the texter said he will send a check registered and I was to pay the MOLD INSPECTOR by phone when I got the check. I signed for the check. It looks so official. Don’t fall for this-but do go along with it to make them spend money and waste their time [IMG_1962.HEIC]
