Lee,

Did you request a fish story? ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif) I thought you would never ask. Maybe this will be the first of many fish stories to be posted here. You probably will recognize the fish I'm holding in my avatar as a black bass. This one was the first of two fish that I caught that day (within 15 minutes of one another) the smaller of which you can see here: Yee ha!

http://www.nachi.org/bbsystem/usrimages/fish2.jpg

The one in my avatar was about nine pounds, I think! Didn't have a scale with me that day. I hooked her while reeling the line in with only about 10 feet of line out. She was hiding in some weeds and when she saw my lure she cut a "V" on the surface of the water racing after it like a shark. When she hit the lure, I was ready for her but she damn near pulled me into the water with her anyway. I set the hook into the fish's boney jaw with adrenelin assisted force. My rod doubled over as line began to peel from the reel and the drag screamed. Then she jumped. Tail dancing on the surface of the water, mouth gaping, red gills flaring and coming right at me shaking her head wildly trying to throw the hook. She danced like that three times for me before I was able to land her by hand. Did you ever see a mad pig dance? As I hoisted her up and my friend scrambled for the camera, I could not help but admire the extraordinary clarity of color and detail on this beautiful fish along with her impressive length and girth. This was a strong fish, very firm, stout and shaped like a football.

I released the fish back into the water as is my habit with largemouth bass. Catfish and other species are usually not afforded the same benefit and generally end up on the kitchen table garnished with a little homemade horseradish tartar sauce ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif) The vest is not very stylish but it has enough pockets to carry everthing that you need when you are bank fishing.

The picutes are not so good because they are actually pictures of a picture. One day I'll get around to scanning them.

Thanks for asking Lee. I hope you enjoyed this story. Who's next?

Are we sexist or how do you determine what sex a fish is? Are they like birds, people, and black widow spiders where the mommy is more beeeee-uuuuuuuuuuuuu-tee-full than the daddy?

Here's my fish story.

I have two aquariums, one with African and South American cichlids in it. Five days ago I put 100 little fish in the aquarium with them. This morning, not a single little fish is left. How do little fish grow up to be big fish? I'm so depressed. I shall have to go have a margarita and listen to some Beatles to bring me out of my depression.

Both of these fitches were spawning. ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif) ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif) Yes they were girls. It's not sexist to refer to girls as, well, girls. Is it? ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif)

Dude! Cichlids are like bass. They will eat anything they can fit in their mouth. What were you thinking? Good entertainment perhaps?

Wow. How lucky is Greg Bell? His one post speaks for "everybody." ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

Maybe we can hear from some vegetarians on this thread. Or maybe PETA will join in. I'm sure they would be angry at me for feeding all those little fishees to those bigger fishees. After all, doesn't all of God's creatures have a right to live and not to be eaten by those bigger than they are? ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

Russel, don’t get your panties in a wad. If you notice the " icon_wink.gif " at the end of my post, you should realize that I was joking about it.

William, how did you know that I was wearing panties. Friday is panty day for me.

You must be wearing them, too, for yours also seem to be in a wad. If you notice the ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif) in my post, you should also realize that I was joking about your joking about it.

But why did it take you over 150 posts to prove that to everyone? I figured you did; after all, anyone living in South Texas has to have a sense of humor. That from a native Kingsvillain.

I feel like I have acheived the highest compliment a NACHI rookie can acheive, an Iggy. I am truly honored. I want to thank the producers of this fine site, my mom and dad, my wife...... ![icon_smile.gif](upload://b6iczyK1ETUUqRUc4PAkX83GF2O.gif)

Paul,

I apologize for the misdirection.

James,

That is a good question.

I would never have posted anything under a thread called “The Will and Grace Show” and am quite offended that someone would change the name of the thread after it’s up and running.
