Can anyone give me any info on where to look for requirements on floor drains in basement floors? Thanks,

It should have a basket screen for easy cleaning (like your sink drain), and should be piped with positive pitch to a drywell well away from the house. Sometimes lift pumps are required to avoid deep drywells or for poor soil/groundwater conditions. Thats the basics. Anything in particular?

ahhhhh…but are floor drains even required in a basement? I couldn’t find anything on that…sort of like the argument if they are required in garages.

Ahhhh … perhaps I misread the question. Basement floor drains are not required by model codes like the IRC if that is the question.

BTW ... residential garage floor drains are required by model codes like the IRC where there isn't positive pitch of the floor to the outside. The debate is usually if that floor drain can be hooked up to a septic system.
