make inspection software is going explode.
Your commission from Spectora is going to take a huge hit. Best be getting things lined up with a new company ASAP.
Joking aside, it says something when someone as supportive as you have been is jumping ship.
It’s already exploding
I’d already seen 6 or 7 new platforms announced before this. Now, a few more have popped up in the last 24 hours.
I’ve seen 2-3 people say they’re just going to make their own.
I know another software developer who makes custom software for other home service companies who’s ready to jump in the fray.
I’m sure if I asked my 16-year-old son to make me one, he could set it up in a few hours. But then I’d be stuck doing my own tech support. lol.
Read between the lines… He ain’t goin’ anywhere!
As I told Spectora, I am not interested in selling their 3rd party products. Not for points, not for money, not for anything. I don’t sell stuff I know nothing about selling, like insurance, warranties, alarm systems, etc. And if it is in my inspection dashboard, the client perceives me as selling it. Not interested, end of story.

It reminds me of giving Molly treats after about the third one I would say “and that’s it… and I mean it” LOL she knew she was getting another one ![]()
Pay to keep access easier for past reports for a year or two, not pay to use.
That just sux you would have to pay for access to your files. Is there not a way to download your records?
I just looked and messaging them for help has been removed from my dashboard. I then looked at their “ Have a feature request, give feedback” is nothing but people raging about this. I love this software and really hope they straighten this out. Either way, It is not a good sign that they are even attempting to implement something like this. I am holding out some hope.
No, you can download what you want. I actually explained my reasoning in an above post. No need to repeat it.
Good luck.
I haven’t found a client-facing report I like better, but I’m hoping I can tweak the few I’m considering to look more like what I want. We will see! Going to take me a few weeks to pick my new one. But it is already in process.
I was picking up what you are putting down. I was thinking of keeping it until my year expires and just trying to get comfortable with a new platform in the meantime.
You might as well, as far as I know, they don’t do refunds on annual plans. My current year expires this fall. I will probably pay for one more year, even though I will be actively using a different software. We will see. I haven’t had much reason to really dig into past stuff, so extending my subscription may not be needed. I’ll make that decision when the time comes.
Yep, that is how I feel as well….. From what I have gleaned, HIP is not a major revenue driver, so after Dom left, they scaled back their customer service team. Thank goodness, I just do not have problems with HIP that are not caused by my inspectors or me, and we can figure it out most of the time!
Hmmm…I get the reason why, but that takes all the fun away from ditching a stupid software company.
I use InspectorNexus and never have problems. It’s $4 per report (I don’t do a ton of inspections) and it’s simple but has an updated appearance to it. Looks nice and works nice. Don’t even have to put in my clients’ phone numbers.
I get that, lol.
I’m just glad I own the software. The biggest problem if they were to dissolve would be how to do a workaround for the cloud service between mobile and desktop.
The only time that I have really needed IT support was with the new builds for beta testing. Years ago, Dominic called me back on his honeymoon to answer my question. The last time I called IT, it was a waste of time. I know how to go back to previous builds, so I no longer need them.
Time will tell.

From North Carolina’s SOP Code of Ethics. This is pretty much a result of home buyers getting tired of being bombarded with what they consider to be unsolicited email, text messages and phone calls resulting from the home inspection.
Licensees must obtain written permission from the client or clients to sell, share, or provide data or personal information such as names, addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers about the home inspection or the client or clients to third parties, other than the Board.
