Fraudulant Inspector

BS! That’s a lame arss excuse that losers use when they have no clue. Prove me wrong… Elaborate. Facts. Examples. First hand knowledge only. Oh, and it needs to be relavent.

I don’t have anything to prove. I live here, I see it and live it. I would love to see something happen but I don’t have a dog in this fight. Reece is the one with all the facts and documents so at this point it is his decision on how to proceed. When you are literally neighbors with these people you have to be carefull. My example would be I won’t tell you how to do it in Minnesota.

Maybe in your area it is true, but not here.

I know of an inspection company in NJ and here that has been around for over thirty years. They have changed their names numerous times to avoid lawsuits, yet, they are still in business to day.

I just left a house yesterday that was “completely renovated”. Not one permit was pulled for any of the work and all of it was wrong. It is absolutely the worst I have seen, ever! Yet this contractor is still in business.
And now, there are many of these flippers around and I am seeing more and more if this.

I agree as every area is different by many factors.

Fastest action from DBPR is to consumer complaints, get her to file. You can get the forms from the website and give them to her. Hell, fill them out for her and let her sign them. Do what ever you can to make it easy for her to report him.

Around here (Citrus county) competitor complaints were almost always ignored so a few of us like minded contractors decided that when a complaint is filed several would get filed. Guess what, now they listen to competitor complaints too.

You have to take action if you want action!

Guess what…
The homeowner just called me and she is P I S S E D! She wants to throw this guy under the bus and back over him.
So, I want to provide her with the inforamtion of who to complain to.

  1. DBPR
  2. CILB
  3. ???
Do you all have any suggestions?

The DBPR/CILB complaint form does not show anything for fraudulant inspections.

Anyone?

We had a homeowner who had an open electrical junction at the front porch and a TPR value that was adapted to a 1/4" flex copper line. She called out Florida gas who said that there was nothing wrong and demanded we change the 4 point.

Hey Everyone.

If an inspector/consumer suspects fraud in a transaction they should file a complaint here: https://secure.fldfs.com/fraud/nonIndustryRSF.asp

Hope that helps.

I found that, too. Thanks Michelle.

Have her call the local code authority and ask them if it is compliant, then have her call the gas company to report her finding. That should take care of it.

She has the paperwork to file her complaints and is determined to keep this guy from harming anyone else.
Now, I’ve actually seen the report. He put all of the minimums so he wouldn’t need to prove with any pictures. Claimed no attic access, toe nails, didn’t look for permits, etc. He charged her $125 for this with a 4pt.
I went ahead and did a proper UMVI. The home has a roof permitted and installed in 2004, 6 & 6 8d nails, clips with 4 nails each. These are all discounts that she should be getting and paid the inspector to document.
Anyhow, we’ll see what comes of it. I’ll keep this post updated.

Have her fill out the DBPR form too. They haven’t updated their forms in years and we’re a new license. Even though it has no place for inspections she can attach an explaination.

I suggested that she call DBPR and have them walk her through it.

probably the best way.

I have contacted the DBPR regarding unlicensed inspectors, one was a painter another was a pest control technician. DBPR has left voice-mails to say they are investigating. If you do nothing don’t expect anything to change. You need to become active, sitting in you lazyboy ******** about it will only make you upset but will not resolve the problem.

This is exactly the same thing I complained about in another post. The insurance agent refused to refer me again because of calling out something like this because now his client had to make repairs. Where does the line start and stop on this crap.

Getting agents to recommend you is kind of like getting Realtors to recommend you.

Who cares what those fools think

All they care about is making the sale and how cheap you will do the job for or what incentives or kickbacks they can get from you.

And this is different than you *HOW *???

BTW… Realtors and agents are the same thing! One just pays a lot of money for marketing… kinda like a CMI!

:stuck_out_tongue:

When we learn to stand together .
If we all got on the same team and refused to service these Agents then we could stop this instantly .
A good start is to stop bashing other home Inspectors on a public forum .
You see Doctors ,lawyers , seldom allow their feeling too show to the public.
Stupid malcious post’s only help to destroy our industry .
