For those of you who don’t want to pay Adobe an arm and a leg for Acrobat (I got tricked into that purchase as well), check out PDFCreator. It’s free software that lets you create PDFs from any program that can print.
Here's a tutorial on how to install and use it. The tutorial is specific to the NACHI hosting platform (still under construction), but it should be useful to anyone interested in creating PDF files from their documents.

I was pretty excited about this program too, Chris.
Sadly, when I downloaded it , it blew the video driver right out of my computer. I have an old dell optiplex that uses ati rage pro. Why the heck would that happen? I’d have asked this sooner, but it took me a while to get all this figured out.

I have no idea why that might have happened Chad. Why don’t you send me an e-mail with a little more detail about what happened. I’ll see what I can figure out. Unfortunately I didn’t write the software, so I can’t offer much support on it. It’s an open source solution though, and anything hosted on SourceForge is normally pretty reliable.

All you really need to create PDF files is a PDF Printer Driver.
PDF 995 works but is very basic without many added features. It's called PDF 995 because it costs $9.95 if you don't want the sponsor link, otherwise it's free.

After evaluation, I chose RoboPDF. It has the features I needed.
I think I paid $79.95 for it.

There are many PDF printer drivers out there. I’ve found pdf995 lacking as well. I’ve never tested RoboPDF. I’ve had no problems with PDFCreator or Adobe Acrobat, the former being $0 and the latter being $449.

Kevin, thanks for the link. Stupid question of the day: Obviously, the software comes without the box. Would it also be true that it comes without the dox? If so, can any idiot (say, yours truly) install/navigate/use it, or does one need additional documentation outside of what would be included on/with the CD?
Regards,

Is there any way to get this version of PDF Creator to further compress the file.
Let me explain. I took a 27 MB inspection report and ran it through the program. Worked great and created the report in PDF format, just like it should. I did notice however that Adobe would have made the report much smaller in size, generally less than 2 MB for the same report, the report that I ran through ended up over 6 MB's.
Do you know if there are any better drivers out there for the PDF Creator which would make the report size smaller and can you change the driver for PDF Creator?
On another subject, what program do you use to upload the PDF file?

Try this: http://www.neevia.com/
$20.00 for the license and so far, it has converted everything.
Publisher 97, Word, PageMaker, PowerTab guitar editor, Excel, and many others.
It is the only one I have found that would convert Publisher files without corruption.
