H.E. furnace venting near windows

I have a client with a direct vent 2019 Amer Std H.E. furnace where the exhaust and intakes are about 2 ft below and to the right of a bedroom window. Some towns say they will defer to a manufacturer’s recommendations. I can’t get an answer out of Amer Std. Suggestions on this one??
