Hey i'm sorry but THIS home inspector is simply wrong, incompetent on THIS subject

Said many times, there are some real good home inspectors but it’s these incompetent supposed-repair solutions for leaky basements and bowed in walls that kill me, and certainly doesn’t help those homeowners nor us honest contractors

1:40 mark, one can see some of the cracks, EXT cracks in these walls man sheesh and lolol an interior drainage system and sump pump previously installed $$$. Those idiots should have told homeowner exterior waterproofing was needed, NOT an INT system, same old crap man.

late in video 8:24 mark , why does this home inspector give repair SOLUTIONS? His repair solutions will NOT repair squat!!!

2:20 visible cracks and wall is bowed in a bit

2:45 see the basement floor, the 18" or so of perimeter = INT drainage system installed that did not do anything in reducing lateral soil pressure or possibly underground tree roots off the ext of walls and never stopped the water that is getting in through multiple ext cracks in block walls = SCAM

6:10 another great idea eh, slapping tar along patio–house perimeter = more incompetence

7:40 1 of the multiple ext cracks, so just leave all the ext cracks OPEN huh and leave the soil pressure, roots against the walls eh? = incompetent, shouldn’t be making any supposed repair solutions, no way

the homeowners or previous owner was already screwed, lied to by the INT system company, now this guy gonna steer them down moron-holiday-road

8:24 again his supposed repair solutions lolollll

8:34 can see at least 1 vertical crack crawl wall, likely more on exterior, the usual

Hey, removing the patio slab is NOT a solution

Grading is NOT a solution

longer downspouts are NOT solutions to the EXISTING problems here

you aren’t going to keep all water away from, off-of the full depth of these basement walls, NOT gonna happen man. Will sloping the stinking grade and longer downspouts help keep some water away? Duh! On longer heavier rains that soil is still gonna get wet, saturated and ACT UPON the wall where there are already multiple ext cracks in walls and at least 1 wall bowed in

Leaky basements, waterproofing, bowed in walls, mold efflorescence etc is NOT easily explained in a few short azz’d paragraphs, sry… Maybe it’s your short wimpy attention span that gets in the way, EH?

Ok…first time I have heard the term “adhesion cracking”. He gave an explanation, but…

Who else is familiar with this term?

lolol HE says, he thinks… in winter when some soil freezes it adheres to the wall hence he says, adhesion cracking.

does he understand that the soil is going to get wet and expand when it rains, at least somewhat, even if he thinks he can keep some water AWAY from the already bowed wall. What about on longer heavier rains? Soil is gonna expand whether he likes it or not and what about possible underground roots against-along the wall?

and what about further water entering into n through the ext cracks in blocks

i see again an HI didn’t bring up the interior system did NOT do anything about water entering through the ext cracks, didn’t do anything to redcue, lessen ext-soil pressure etc and that the INT system was NEVER needed and unnecessary sheesh

when the grade is raised NOBODY knows if there are any deteriorated blocks below grade, like this

i DO know 100 there are multiple ext cracks in these B walls that few seem to give a shtt about n instead think installing an idiot INT system is all anyone needs

let me add please, what about the many driveway and patio B walls we have done, water got UNDER all that sht so why do some think water won’t go under a RAISED DIRT, sloped grade?? lolol smh
—water got under HERE, concrete and into basement

Google or Bing does Not recognize that term, nor do I.

Apparently you are the last resort Mark.

His explanation of the types of crackes was indeed quite unique to say the least…and an inside diverter system is a foundation structural repair…amazing…

ahhh lol i see HE has something to gain-extract from homeowners $$$$$ per his, ‘Wet basement inspections’ and he writes, ‘The methods and techniques described in this book are not a guarantee basements won’t leak again…’

so again, one can say anything when one doesn’t guarantee a damn thing

there’s a former HI in Michigan that did the same thing, wrote a book $$$$ and then advertised to the public that HE supposedly had all the cheap, easy answers for leaky basements with no guarantee, he go and meet homeowners and charge then $$ for his incompetent weak ‘solutions’ he actually sent me his book few years back lolol so after a quick view of this guys book, it is pretty much the SAME thing guy here did for easy $$$ and no guarantee

Ron Gay is the guy i mentioned lol, i just woke up took my baldy head a minute, here was some discussion per HIS book, just like the other home inspector’s book

Ron G had a site, it was wetbasementconsultants.com …NOT there anymore hmmmm

now this is all i can find, sheesh after all the pumping of the book and the advertising that he could solve peeps problems for $300–400 http://www.gthree.net ‘carpenter’

i reemember talking to Ron a couple times on phone, after he sent me his book, i SENT HIM lolollll some videos of some of ours jobs which CLREALY show n prove mych of his waterdiverting stuff, is bullsht… he said he wanted to meet, but GEE, i never heard from him again after sending our videos

does he seem like a good dude? Sure, seems like it, Does he ‘GET’ that INT drainage systems are bogus, fraudulent sht? Yes, but that doesn’t make him or the home inspector above–video-book an honest expert on this subject, shtt, lollll they have NEVER done the job, never waterproofed anything let alone had to AHEM< guarantee it!

--------Ron HAD on his former website claimed, ‘NO ONE has more skill or experience in finding and correcting overlooked defects at a house’s exterior’… well well well, aren’t YOU Mr Smarty pants = shtttt

so, guy in Ohio imo is pretty much doing the same thing… pump his stuff for $$$$$ with no guarantee

i’ll take this home inspectors words, Josh in Ohio , in this video on leaky basements and interior drainage systems LONG before Mr Gay and Mr Gibson and imo ALL homeowners should as well, the others are BS’g you for self-gain $ ---- again, SOME home inspectors ‘get it’ and some do not, some call out the bullshtt and some do not

Never heard anyone call it that but essentially he means frost heaving. A form of hydrostatic pressure against the wall.

Never use a 2’ level for anything like this. I also work for a structural engineer now and we look at these kinds of things all the time. With lasers. You need an accurate measurement of the wall deflection to make a determination of whether it’s bowing enough to need bracing. If so, the correct repair is power bracing the wall with steel.

Removing/reducing hydrostatic pressure can help in these situations. The patio definitely directs water towards the home. Installing exterior drainage can help too.

You can see my level leaning against the wall…not really needed in this case, lol!

But someone else sure could have used a level! “Got Lean?”

Great video @jfrederick
