Greetings All,
Once again, I come to the universal mind for insight.
Has anyone input on the minimum length ladder to be used for a two story home?
I have found a candidate in the folding type that is affordable & comes apart to form two separate smaller units (indoor/outdoor). Total length-
22 ft.
However, short of walking up to a strangers house and asking them if I can measure the height of their eves from the ground, I do not know whether this unit will reach the average house.

I carry 3 Ladders the longest of which is 34 Feet. This is what I need at a minimum and there are occasions that the 34 is not long enough for a 2 story house.

What we were taught is fire training to select proper ladder was that typical residential construction is about 9-10’ for each story from ground to eaves. So 2 stories with no partial basement exposed would be about 18-20’. you should have at least 3 rungs(3’) above the roof line for safety. add about 1’ in loss of length whn you place the ladder at climbing angle.
2 story house(about 18-20')
assume 20'
add 3' for rungs above
add 1' in angle loss
