Hi all,

Does anyone have experience with an hydroair system for residential?

I have run into this a couple of times recently and wonder if you guys know of a site to read up on it.

Thanks,
Carla

Carla,

Sorry, I am one of those dumb inspectors you read about. I have'nt got a clue about that one.

Do you have any idea if that is the manufacturer or did someone make them for this company?

Hi Joe,

I don't know how new this is but I wish that we could find out more
about it. I think that we will start seeing this system more
frequently. There is a boiler in the basement which sends hot
H2O to the attic or top level where there is an air forcing heat
pump type set up.I did find hydroair surfing the web, but the sites
were just selling, no schematic info.
???????????????????????
Thanks for replying,
Carla

Carla,

That was a very helpful link indeed! Now we both know what you are talking about. Pretty interesting idea, I wonder how much they cost installed. ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)

Hi Joe and Neil,

Thanks for the interest in hydroair. It seems to be a real
smart system.
I am sure that I will be coming across it alot more in the
future. I just wish that I knew a little more about how
it works!

Thanks,
CJ

Carla,

"Smart"? Can you help define that word for the record? From the link you posted they looked like a pretty simple system.

Hey Joe,

It would be better stated as the intelligent expedience of a traditional
boiler system amalgamated with the efficiency of the
heat pump air system.
maybe I should have said efficient in stead of smart.

Carla -

You are right concerning these systems, they do a nice job and are normally cost effective because they're using the same ductwork that's in place for the AC.

Here in VA we see a lot of Apollo and Aquatherm (brand names) systems where they're using hot water (from gas hot water tank) that runs through coils in the air handler, where air is then blown across the coils and then into the ductwork. When you inspect these systems you need to check both the upper coil (heating) and the lower coil (AC) for cleanliness.

If you have any more detailed questions concerning these systems, just let me know.
