I live in South Florida and have just about completed a home study course in home inspection and am currently looking for a position in the field. I have no prior or hands on experience with inspection, or in the construction field. Does anyone here know of certain companies in my area that hire “newcomers” and inexperienced inspectors? Would appreciate any ideas and help. Thanks!

Hello Nick, thanks for the quick response. I am only about 2 1/2 hours to Orlando and can possibly make it for the meeting. Do many people attend from down this way? I would be quite interested to meet people in the business and do some networking… By the way, you mention not signing a “non-compete” form, is this something that a lot of people require or ask employees to do? Thanks again!

I’m getting the RSVP on this meeting and it is going to be a big one. I think about 90 inspection firms from all over Florida including the South are coming.
I'm a little nervous about the enormous response and the distance inspectors are coming from. Find me and sit with me. I'll get a list of established inspection companies from your area that are going to be there and we'll all hook up. I think you have a better chance of getting the getting the right job with the right employer if I help.
If I'm butting in (as I am sometimes guilty of doing) just say so.

Hi Gina
Welcome to NACHI and the world of home inspections. I hope you can make it to the meeting. It is my hope that our chapter will set up a training program for new inspectors. There are many aspects to a home inspection such as presentation, communication, report writing and
marketing just to name a few. You are on the right track and being in South Florida is a plus.
Nick,
Glad to hear you are getting a lot of response for the meeting. Don't worry we can hold up to 300 for the first meeting.
