If (or when) my shoes get wet (such as when the yard is muddy) I also change shoes inside.

I typically have three or four pairs of shoes in the van. The ones I'm wearing (my 'inspection shoes'), my roof shoes, my crawl space shoes, and on older pair. I wear sneakers and when they get too dirty or start to show wear, they become 'roof shoes', my old 'roof shoes' then become 'crawl space shoes', my old 'crawl space shoes' become 'extras'. That way, I just keep rotating shoes on down the line, and if a pair gets wet, I've got extras in the van.

The towel is for those days when it rains, but things don't get soggy and my shoes don't get soaked, then I wipe the water off on the towel, but mainly, it is for everyone else.

Great minds must really think alike. I do have four pairs but I only use two. When the one pair gets old enough, or dirty enough I turn them into outdoor shoes. The roof, exterior, basement, crawl space…etc.

That is one pair of hush puppies (suede) and three pairs of NB sneakers.
