As a licensed inspector in Florida can I perform my own wind mitigation?
If no, can you please site a reference?
Most Code of Ethics!
There is no rule that bars a home inspector from performing his own WindMit.
This has been beat to death already
I read the thread provided and it seems that there are two different opinions.
Is there a specific source? I can’t find one. From another thread it appears there isn’t anything stating we cant, as a wind mitigation doesn’t fall under the dbpr definition of “home inspection”. They do not make rulings on insurance inspections.
There is no source. You will never find a source or state law that says you cannot do your own wind mitigation inspection. It is not a home inspection. Just check with your insurance company and make sure its fine with them. The ones on that thread who are saying that they did their own are those that are in the know.
I like it and appreciate your response. I don’t see what the problem is to begin with. If we commit fraud it’s on is weather it’s for our home or any other that we do.
Ive already completed it and sent to my insurance. The only underwriter we have in the keys is citizens so I guess we will see what they say. Thanks again.
Will the insurance company accept an inspection from you as the home owner/buyer?
Seems like that is the pertinent question. We don’t have windmit inspections here so I am totally speaking outside my experience.
