Inspector Website Builder (IWB) for InterNACHI® Home Inspectors

Quick challenge for you this afternoon — takes about 20 seconds.

Pull out your phone and search your own business name on Google. Look at what comes up first. Not your website — the box on the right with your hours, photos, and reviews. That’s your Google Business Profile.

Here’s the thing most inspectors don’t realize: when a buyer searches “home inspector near me,” that profile is what decides whether you show up in the little map of three businesses at the top. Not your website. The profile. For local searches, it’s basically your new homepage — the first thing a buyer or agent sees, and often the only thing they need to decide who to call.

So take a look at yours and be honest:

  • Are your hours, service areas, and categories actually filled in?
  • Are there real photos — you, your vehicle, your work — or is it blank?
  • When’s the last time anything on it was updated?

A profile you set up two years ago and haven’t touched sends Google the same signal a dark, empty storefront sends a customer: maybe this person isn’t in business anymore. And a half-filled profile gives Google almost nothing to match you against when someone’s searching in your area.

None of this is complicated — it’s just the kind of ongoing upkeep that quietly falls off the list when you’re booked solid with inspections.

Now the fun part — pull up your profile and tell me: ghost town, or dialed in? Post what you find below.

This is Part 1 of a series I’ll be sharing on getting found where buyers and agents are actually looking. More coming.
