Interesting lead plumbing from 1903

Saw in a New Bedford MA 3 family. Was at the laundry sink in the basement. Had the original lead drainage too.

Save that when it is removed. That is amazing. I’ve never seen anything like that.

Wiped lead joints. Just a few years before my time but plumbers in my hall have installed wiped lead joints. I’ve only seen them on water mains.

I would hang that on my wall instead of antlers.

Just make sure you wash your hands really good before you eat your sandwich for lunch.

That is a work of art for sure.

This is the norm for me in older homes.

Nice how the lead pipe compliments the lead paint.

This was from a time when plumbers or any craft for that matter were true craftsman. Just don’t look at the floor joists and walls that get notched out back then :slightly_smiling_face:

I told the guy buying the house that if he were to remove it donate it to the local historic society.
But in all honesty if you’re not drinking from it, just keep admiring it.

very interesting…

No worse than the lead in the water from road drainage and leaded gas, paint and asbestos from the house siding up there in New England. Water can absorb just so much lead per/gal. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

And you wonder why we’re like

A pre-internet 3-point buck…

If I had to describe my life, in terms of plumbing.
