If you use the HomeGauge companion for Android or soon the iPhone the pictures you take are “automatically” in what we call your “Photo-locker” that is stored in your report folder automatically. This photo-locker folder is not uploaded with your report to the customer. It can but resides on your computer in the folder which eliminates double copy to the computer etc. If you used your digital camera then when your pictures load on the film strip you can click the icon above and it selects all and then the second icon click will send them to the folder called Photo-locker as discussed earlier. You can also pick and choose by de selecting what goes to the photo-locker. It’s pretty cool.
We are less than 30 days from release for the iPhone, ipad, ipad mini. The ios is the only language we did not do in house and the first developer took more than a year and crapped on us. We have hired another developer who is very good and have fixed more bugs than I want to say. We are eating crow on the ios, but in less than 30 days it will walk their dog. You can download it now for your ipad mini. I did an inspection on it and did not lose any info, but do a mock inspection and not a real one with it yet. The Android version is 2 years old rock solid. It has had a nice upgrade recently to reduce clicks. The ios will catch up quickly once it is released.
We have a feature that automatically includes a comment on report start. If you have a picture or an illustration line drawing associated with the comment that automatically includes…then yes. We also have Report Fill too… that will let you start with a completed report…or sections that you can use. Many different ways to do this. HomeGauge features run very deep with only 3D coming close.
Lastly, what makes HG stand out above the rest? Answer: so many but you have to see them to realize. Number one is the delivery of the report and what we do for the inspector and agent. The experience. Have you seen a sample report with expanding pictures in Hi-res and video that actually works in all major browsers and safari. PDF video attempts are poor. I can prove that 24 percent of buyers try to see their report with their smart phone and safari. PDF video will not work. Our competitors out put to PDF. We out put to html and more so our reports look like “Web Presentations” beautiful interactive reports. Sure they can save it as a PDF and print etc. but so many more things we do to deliver, track and manage the reports. You get so much more info on tracking who sees it who forwarded it and did they in turn view etc. You have TRM Time Release Messages that are triggered by your design. A Thank you letter in 2 days to all parties…then 3 months this letter and 6 months that. A marketing machine already laid out for you to use.

Russell, with HG companion, are the photos automatically slotted in position when taken with a tablet, or phone? Do you have to finish the reports with a desktop?
Yes and Yes. You can finish the whole report on the android or soon ios phone or tablet, but you still have to bring it to a desktop version then upload etc. Some choose to use the HG Companion for the pictures, video, styles and materials, and do the rest on the desk top. The methods varies among preference.
We have some older ones…I say older because we just did an upgrade that reduced clicks and some other things and we haven’t had time to update it. If you have an Android, feel free to go to the Google Play store, search for HomeGauge Companion. Its a full version you can evaluate. You can also sign up for HG Services for free for 30 days to use the cloud transfer as well as see some of the features in HG Services. HomeGauge version 5 is a free full trial download as well.

That’s our main version 5 for windows. You were asking about HG Companion which is the Android. This is a video of HG Companion but the user interface is better now.
Correct. We think there are many more reasons to use HG Services and the cloud transfer feature is just one of them. But, you do not have to use HG Services or the cloud feature. You can transfer the report via a cable.
That’s good to know. I’ve been under the impression that you had to upload to cloud.
I have been using pocket gauge for several years to enter majority of data, then completing at desktop. The only real difference I could see between companion and pocket gauge was the ability to take photos with device.
Pictures taken at that item are stored at that item. Be sure after you bring the report to the Desktop and open it you should go to Find Unanswered and change it to Find Pics and it will quickly take you to each pic for arrows circles etc. without you having to find the pics at the items.

Sure. You can do both or get pictures from your device, from HGC, from the digital camera. Pictures that come into the filmstrip are not automatically in the photolocker like the HGC pictures. You have to use the icon at the top of the picture pane (hover over to read) that will highlight all and then the other icon will add highlighted pictures to the photolocker. Now all your pictures are stored in one place.
