InterNACHI student

Hi I’m learning to be a home inspector. I’ve already got a certification through ICA and I’m working on getting my CPI through InterNACHI. I’m very much a hands on learner. I think I need some field experience with a professional home inspector before I go out on my own. I’m in the Denver, CO area. Is there anyone out there that wouldn’t mind sharing their knowledge and experience with me and allow me to shadow them on some inspections?

IMO, you should be hiring an inspector at full scale, not begging for a “ride-along”.

At this point I can’t find anyone hiring so I’m hanging on to my full time job and just looking to learn.

That wasn’t my point, but good luck anyway.

Hi Forrest, You will have to excuse Jeffry, J he must have forgotten to take his med’s today, I can not help you with this but I am sure someone will come along and help you soon. Anyway, welcome to the forum. Enjoy. :+1:

I have done this on many occasions. I am sure someone will pickup on your request. Look/search for InterNACHI mentors in your area.
Good luck.

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to act unprofessional dealing with members or post illustrations that would not be permitted verbally or in write context on the MB.

Forest, you can click on the ‘show more’ illustration to flag any provocative or insulting post by any member and lodge a formal complaint to the organisation. It will be reviewed for substance.

Look. To some it might seem funny, but this type of mindless assault to or from members reflects poorly on the organization and the home inspection industry as a whole.
We are bigger than that at the moment. I do remember being taken in by the idea and thought it was casual member banter. No longer though… InterNACHI has grown enormously throughout North America.

We are leaders in the North American home inspection community and as such should depict professionalism in our actions no matter the forum.

Food for thought.

Forest I get what your saying, I to went to ICA and always wanted someone to take me on a ride along,.its never happened asked once with no reply, most want to be paid or won’t help because you’re in there area, my suggestion would be to understand stand your new intrest and write a few reports on your own, compare with other reports, ICA taught you how do Inspections roof to basement/crawlspace, INTERNACHI will help with the rest, don’t mind some they just here the same thing over and over again

Forrest, contact some CMIs or CPIs within 40 to 50 miles, or closer, to your area and communicate with them. Maybe one, or more, will help you. Some inspectors feel as though they are training their competition by ride-alongs or mentoring or hiring.
Here is the link for CMIs: Find a Certified Master Inspector®
And the link for CPIs: Find Certified Home Inspectors Near You - InterNACHI®
