Hi everyone!
I’m Alfredo and only 23 years old! I’m brand new to InterNACHI as I’ve finally decided to start my education to become a home inspector. The concepts are all brand new to me and I have no background experience with construction and have basic knowledge for architecture. I want to reach out to the community and ask for any advice to be successful in this field.
This is all really interesting to me but at the same time, very overwhelming. Thanks in advance!
Welcome aboard, Alfredo.
Keep your noise to the grindstone and learn at a pace that suits you would be my first recommendation.
There is enough educational literature to keep you busy for years to come.
Make a friend or two. Friends can be a great advantage to you when you need help.
Wishing you much success in the industry.
Kindest regards.

Alfredo, you may want to contact some CMIs or CPIs within 40 to 50 miles, or closer, to your area and communicate with them. Maybe one, or more, will help you. Some inspectors feel as though they are training their competition by ride-alongs or mentoring or hiring.
Here is the link for CMIs: Find a Certified Master Inspector®
And the link for CPIs: Find Certified Home Inspectors Near You - InterNACHI®
And Mentors: Home Inspector Mentoring - InterNACHI® and InterNACHI® - International Association of Certified Home Inspectors
Also, you may want to take advantage of your Education Team at education@internachi.org for specific questions e.g. 15 Steps to Become a Successful Home Inspector - InterNACHI® and InterNACHI® Master Class for Home Inspectors . And there is the new training cards app Chris Morrell, our CEO, offers: New training app for home inspectors
And there is the Helpful How-To Videos - InterNACHI® for many other things.
P.S. Welcome to our forum. Enjoy!
First and foremost. Read and learn the trade. Buying cool gadgets does not make you a good inspector. Find the most educated inspector you can find to be your mentor. In fact, find as many inspectors as you can that will show you their style of inspecting. Once you have learned from the more experienced you can develop your own style. The more time you spend writing your comments now will save you time later. Unfortunately, you will most likely have time when you are starting out. Ask questions here on the forum and take the criticism with a grain of salt. Everyone here didn’t start out knowing everything. Good luck and stick with it.
