Hi, I’m trying to start with Spectora for my reporting, but I’m not sure what the best way to set it up is. I see that it has a pre-configured layout(i.e. Inspection Details, Exterior, Roof, etc…). Is it best to just stick with that layout and add comments in the Deficiencies sections as I discover them at each inspection? Or is there a better layout you prefer as an experienced inspector? Forgive me for being green.
Unless you’re in Texas that has a specific format, the best thing to do it look at sample reports from around the country and see what you like and what might work best for you.
The best strategy is research.

To add on to what Ian posted, I started with Ben’s template and modified it from there.

I do not use Spectora…but you will be tweaking the template as you go…I am 1500+ into it and still adding tweaks on things, but make it better.
Ask someone to read a report that is not in the industry and have them give you feedback for clarity of details. It can be humbling, but important as your clients need to be able to navigate the report.

Ditto that.
Non-HI’s see things differently than we do.
