Take the tests. Become a member. Then Market, Market and Market yourself as much as possible. NACHI will help market you a little, but you have to do it yourself. Good Luck

Like you I’ve recently completed coursework in home inspection, and i am also just starting in this buisness. Does anyone know if there is a source that can give information on what is required to start up your own buisness as a home inspector…such as what type of buisness licese I would need to get if this buisness was run from a home office. Just looking for anything that can give info on the legalities of setting up a buisness.

Check with your local secretary of state. Then contact the license board in your state to see what requirements are necessary

Hi Dave,

Being able to communicate with the written word is paramount. If you feel that your writing skills may need some tweaking you should take a course or practice writing at home and have someone look things over for you.

I’m not being critical, but if your report’s rife with typos and grammatical errors it won’t convey the fact that you’re a detail oriented person.

You could be the best home inspector in the world and catch every problem, but the report is what’s scrutinized by the client.

Best of luck to you,
