I wrote this foundation and structure as "recommend evaluation by a licensed structural engineer". At one point in the addition added there is roof slats that were broken and not cut with a saw. The addition is only 12 years old.
see if you can find any issues here

I would be interested in the findings also.
My question at this time would be, where was the Code Enforcement Officer when this permit work was issued, completed and inspected for code compliance?
Seeing more of this all the time.
A reputable Building Contractor would more than suffice to elaborate on the remediable work necessary to make what these pictures look like and make right.
Obviously, a beam pocket would have been required in the stone wall and pressure treated lumber installed underneath and sides of the wood beam.
The other picture would have suggested the exterior header, even though assumed to be anchored to the original header or rim joist, to have been imbedded in the stonewall also.

The client didn’t hire a structural engineer. A relative of a friend who is an engineer came over to look at the structure and deemed it ok. Just monitor it.
I was there at the same time.
I advised her to get that in writing.
He agreed that I did the right thing to suggest calling in an engineer.
