Leave it to the government to release a jobs report that counts jobs they gave themselves… WITH OUR MONEY!
Government jobs are a COST to the productive economy and shouldn’t be added to the jobs report, they should be subtracted.

Nick I agree with your views but when did our (your) inspection forum become your political podium? Just asking. Maybe some of the other folks feel the same as me. Not the proper venue.
Tim, there are a lot that share your view, but it’s not going to change. My advice is to ignore the 20 or so topics a day that are posted here. Wade through the BS and hopefully find something related to home inspections.
Good Luck!
Yeah kinda figured but there is so much other negative political stuff out there and I just don’t like having to deal with it here. I log on to learn I guess. Thanks for the feedback!
Amen to that!! Yet another bald-faced glaring lie (by omission of the facts). The jobs report are important in that they carry a direct influence over Jpowell & Fed and their hawkishness/dovishness or quantative tightening and/or easing. We can just wait for Jean Pierre to treat us like we are all sub-human stupid tax payers while she lies to our faces at the next press briefing. Remember when we were referred to as voters or citizens? Now the “Federal Gubment” just resides to call us “taxpayers”. Wow…
My daughter is a public health nurse. It is considered a government job I suppose. I’ll have to let her know that her work is hurting America.
Ignorance is raining down upon us…
You could say it is raining cats and dogs. But don’t bring up cats and dogs, lol.
Hard to eat ignorance in Springfield, but a certain party is doing it’s best to do it.
I think you’re joking, I can’t tell.
First off, it’s not a political post, it is an economic one. And you do realize InterNACHI is a “trade” association? That’s the #1 things trade associations deal with: Legislation, licensing, regulation, interest rates, lobbying, mortgage interest deductions, first-time home buyer subsidies, housing inflation, small business credits, taxing unrealized capital gains, court rulings, business taxes, outlawing non-compete agreements, right-to-inspect laws, property taxes, hedge funds buying up residential properties, etc are all things that trade (business) associations (in any trade) are most concerned with. That’s what trade associations do. For example: NAR, the National Association of REALTORs spent $52.4 million on lobbyists in 2023.
InterNACHI is a “trade” association.
I don’t know, but if she is employed by a government agency, it isn’t a job created by the private sector and is a cost. It may be work that has to be done, but it is a cost, not a gain. All government is a cost that we have to pay for.
Here, I’ll prove how ridiculous it is for the government to count jobs that they give to themselves in the jobs report. Imagine (as a proof by extremes) that the private sector lost 100,000 jobs. That’s really bad. But during that time, the government hired a million new government workers with our money, provided by 100,000 fewer taxpayers. Would anyone really claim that we had a great jobs report because we created 900,000 new jobs??? Of course not.
Yeah, government and a healthy society costs money unfortunately.
Yes, that’s what I’m saying. That “costs” us money. Money that has to come OUT of the production of taxpayers. You can’t add it, you have to subtract it. It’s part of the cost of government.
Luckily, our taxes paid out in wages to necessary government employees actually return to the economy very quickly.
Here is another way to think about it. Since all of our tax revenue goes to paying the interest on our debt, imagine if you had an old friend who did similarly. Imagine if you ran into him on the street and asked him how he was doing and he said:
“I’m doing great. I hired a full-time maid, a nanny, a landscaper, and a personal trainer.”
You’d think, wow, my friend is doing great! That’s what that job report is like. But then he says…
“I pay all these people with money I borrowed.”
Would you still think your friend is doing well? Of course not. All those new employees are costs to his family’s budget. Worse, they aren’t even costs he’s paying. They are additional new costs paid for by borrowing.
All these new government jobs that the government brags about creating (in their jobs report) are nothing more than additional costs to us, that we have to borrow to pay for. They are a minus, not a plus.
Your friend needs new sources of revenue. Trump says he will get that new revenue using tariffs, meaning he will tax consumers and businesses. Harris says she will get it from the ultra wealthy. I say maybe we need a bit of both.
Absolutely Ryan. Make sure you immediately let her know.
My daughter-in-law is a teacher, and I have a nephew who is a park ranger and a nephew who is a cop. Each of them have government jobs, I’ll let them know. I will also leave a note in my mailbox for my letter carrier.
Firefighters, paramedics, VA hospital staff; they’re all government employees. Street Department and Highway Department workers, they plow snow and keep roads safe. They work for the government.
Public works employees maintain our water utility infrastructure. And if you know anyone at the building department. They’re government employees.
Correctional officers, air traffic controllers. TSA security officers; yep, all government employees. Make sure you let them know.
Actually it’s important to understand the costs being incurred by the government as it affects small business via government over reach and regulation. This is turn impacts the markets that feed you for inspection business.
Government cant improve the economy it can only get in the way or get out of the way of small business and producers. I favor getting out of the way which means a smaller leaner government focused more narrowly on the duties defined under the Constitution.
Anything that wastes spending and increases our debt will will have a negative impact on real estate sales as it affects everything else in the economy.
Somehow, someway, the colleges have managed to convince students the contrary is true.
I disagree. Her work doesn’t hurt America. But people recently hired by the government shouldn’t be counted in the jobs report as new jobs. The government giving jobs to themselves aren’t additional jobs created by the productive economy. They are a cost. All government is a cost to us. Growing it, isn’t something to brag about in a jobs report. It’s something to worry about because it isn’t paid for by tax revenues. It’s paid for with an ever growing debt.
