Level 1 Chimney Inspection

I have been questioned about a Level 1 inspection on wood burning amenities. The paperwork states visiual inspection, it appears to be a normal chimney inspection but I am not sure. Also, I have no idea of the report.

Part 2
They are asking about EPA compliance certification.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mark,
Attached is a link to the Chimney Safety Institute of America which discusses the 3 levels of chimney inspections.

Also, here’s a link to the EPA concerning EPA compliance.

Bill has it right.

I always recomend a level II inspection. I perform the “equivalent” of a level I inspection but I’m not a certified Chimney Sweep, so I don’t report it as such.

When you need to ask about this, you’re not one.
