Vern, Excellent post, your right, that was unfair that the Gov operated so secretly, I agree with all your points, In a previous post I had said that I already see AlbertaNachi as a seperate entity because you guys were fighting for us, and right now AlbertaNachi members are talking and emailing amongst themselves, organizing shared CD books etc, reducing the cost, it has been good to witness the positive reactions, Keep us in the loop with the association idea, would be a proud member, thanks, Chris.
One pitfall for me that required a trip to Edmonton was when I signed the bond, my name was not witnessed. The government does at good job in checking all documents.
Even though we are having problems with the contract, still send in your application using the contract we have.
My reason is, the government will have the opportunity to check your insurance & education & you will be in the process.
In talking to Vern there will be a meeting next week with our lawyer & the minister (and others) to resolve our concerns with the contract. After this, if we get the changes we want you will send a letter with the new contract to the government and then get you license.
My contract was approved because I removed the controversial clause’s & put them into my report.
The contract can be reduced in size by deleting the space taken-up for the sub-contractor information & replacing it with one line “No sub-contractor will be used”.
This can be done in a number of areas without changing the intent of the contract. My contract is three pages long.
