Sounds like you are mixing avenues towards licensing. There is a matrix at the front of the application. You have to pick the one avenue that works for you or fits your situation. Typically, grandfathering will only work for someone who has been in business for several years and can document it using the requirements for such as outlined in the matrix. It isn’t a smorgasborg where you can pick one item from column one and one from column three, etc.

Thanks for the help, I am going to sign up for the 15th down in Orlando and take that exam. Now after that I will be able to mail that exam result and certificate to the state along with my continous education of at least 14 hours and that should be good right?
Right.
Will you be attending www.nachi.org/florida.htm ? Zoe will be there and I’ll have her help you.
Don’t forget to get electronic fingerprinting (Person Vue) — You will also have to declare that you have the required insurance - There has been many discussions on this board pertaining to where to get good rates on the required insurance - one souce is Andy at Lou Reeds Ins. – under $300/year is sole proprietor - Let me know if you need the contact info.

I would love to be there it sounds very good but by the time I got off work thursday night I would have to drive thru the night to make it there and that probably wouldnt be smart to do. I am up by Pensacola/Destin area. Will there be a place to review all the information that was given at this event to review? I already signed up for the exam on the 15th down in Orlando. Is there anything else you can think of off hand that i would need to do before the 15th?

Greg
did you send in your FABI membership certificate too, or just the test results?
Zoe
Dennis do you have the info for Lou Reed’s Insurance agency?
Thanks,
i am also a general, and a rooffing contractor. plaese advise me of what to do to get my license. not alot of help from others because of my licenses. please advise.
Thanks
Jeff
Yes they will accept the education from someone else. I sent in the following.
- A letter from FABI saying that I passed their test.
- A certificate of membership from FABI that was 4 years old.
- A certificate from ITA’s inspection expo from 2002. It had 20 hours of education listed on it.
You can see that mine were not from the same provider and I didn’t even have to be a current member of any association.
Not true, I never joined Zoe’s club. Many inspectors have gotten their license without joining Zoe’s club.
I have been a member of NACHI since 2006 and ASHI since 2008. Took the original NACHI exam and the NHIE exam. Sent the results of NHIE, educational requirements and proof of insurance and received my license within 2 week in the beginning.
I have not joined Florida Internachi as of yet because i am watching and many times, it appears to be a ******** meeting. Want to wait and see if there is any settling down and also whether they will move south of melbourne. We do not have the time to give up two days of business to attend the meetings.
Just a note Florida internachi and the group that has been met in Melbourne (Florida insurance inspectors) are not the same group.
How do I join Florida chapter there isnt an area that states log in or join . Also I have yet to recieve my Internachi I.D. which I read would be helpful for the proctored exam and for use when applying for the License in Florida. Please help time is running out?
Thanks so much
No. It would not be useful. You need to show membership in Florida InterNACHI (not InterNACHI) for grandfathering. Read www.floridainternachi.org
There are a number of inspectors who did just what you did. Many followed the guidance of the DBPR customer service people and well meaning but misguided posts on the message board.
You apparently prepared for and then applied for Licensing by Education and Exam before it was in place. Education Courses approved for that process have only recently been approved.
Greg Bells application was accepted most likely because he applied by* Grandfathering* and all education is being accepted for that process.
To begin with - Grandfathering ends March 1st. Licensing by Education and Exam continues on forever. They have two very different requirements.
Contact AHIT and see if they will recertify your exam to at least the date their education was approved by the State specifically for licensing. This will get you by for Licensing by Education and Exam.
If they will not do this for you - you have no choice but to correct your application to " Grandfathering” and join or be a member of one of the following associations listed below and provide a certificate of membership. And you have only a few days left to do this.

Florida InterNACHI is acceptable if exam certificate indicates that it is a proctored exam and they must also provide certificate of membership from InterNACHI
(Proctor signature is acceptable
Larry,
Thank you for your input. I realized too late that they are different. Is there any chance of a meeting coming South?
I would be curious as Kevin O’Malley and other vendors were at the last meeting and I value their opinions. Thanks.
Hi Mark!
At the last meeting in Melbourne we asked who would like to host the next FL Insurance Inspectors Chapter meeting. Russ Smith volunteered to help us host a meeting in Sarasota. So, our next meeting is there. We have not yet finished with the agenda but, will post it when done.
We WANT our group to travel the State. We need volunteers to help us find meeting halls/food etc. and we like ideas for suggested agenda topics.
Kevin O’Malley was very gracious to come to our meeting in Melbourne. I am not sure we will have a meeting that large in Sarasota.
I am however… working on a BIG “meeting” hopefully in October. But, I cannot share any details on that yet.
Would you like to help us host a meeting where you are?
THANK YOU!
Michelle,
We would be more then happy to host a meeting im West palm beach
