I inspected a home yesterday and the recessed light above the shower did not have a cover. The light trim appeared to be one piece and the bulb was an exterior type flood bulb. I believe some fixtures are approved without a cover but do not know how to tell if this is the correct type of fixture or not. Does anyone know how to tell the approved fixtures from any other fixture?
I tried to take a photo of it to post but the photo did not come out due to glare.
I would remove the lamp and see if there’s a label on the trim indicating that it’s rated for wet locations. It should also say what type of lamp is required.
