Today I had a Realtor ask me if I had Lock Box access. I do not. I still got the inspection, but should invest in access as I am an affiliate member of the Orlando Realtors Association.

Funny,
A realtor was suppose to meet me at a vacant home yesterday. I waited 10 minutes, no show, so I called the listing agent, got the voice mail. I expressed where I was and what was going on. Still no call back, so I looked at the lock box and the name of the realtor and used the first 3 letters of his name, and BAM I was in... sorry, but I got to do what I got to do...Next!

I have one in Georgia. Best investment I’ve made. I typically had to wait on RA’s, but no more. I love having one. The only draw back in Atlanta is that they will not operate til 9a.m. They are timed out. I need 8am start, but what the hell.

Keys are Great, though I dont have to use mine as much as I thought I would, still if lazy REALTORS know you have one, its a plus.
Just be careful and make sure you have permission, I had a buyers agent say “the listing agent said go ahead” and later was POed about it cause he did not give auth to go. Nothing happened but, I usually get someone to at least send me an email granting access.

A Realtor must supply you with a CBS Code to enter, that alone gives you permission to enter the home under the Realtors contract with the seller.

Had a Supra Key for a few years, yes you have to be a member of the local Realtors’ Assoc. As someone mentioned the problem usually arises because the listing agent either doesn’t know the CBS code or have it with them. It got so bad most of the HI here finally gave up renting the keys. I still have one of the older models. Like brand new condition. Back then you had to buy the key and as an affiliate member you did not have monthly fees. Our experience was roughly half either did not even know what we were talking about when we called for the CBS or wanted to argue with you about you not needing it. Then it was a ten minutes discourse on why we as affiliates did not have the same type of programmed key set up as an agent. I was given the wrong number several times as well. It became a sweet/sour situation so we finally dropped it. Hasn’t affected business at all. That is just our experience, if yours’ is better I salute you.

Actually here in South Florida we are on the latest and greatest electronic infared access boxes, our keys are electronic keypads that are updated daily with Supra and the codes change every 24 hours. all information as to who uses the box is posted on the website for viewing by the listing agent
although I am not an affiliate member I am a full member as I own a brokerage firm also, and never had an affiliate membership.

Here the annual price is about the same as others, $175 or so. The other requirements are that you must show proof of $1million in liability insurance and pay a $900 up front “activation” fee. That’s the rules from the local board of Realtors. That’s the Supra Key system. I almost always have my client’s realtor get me in the house.

As an affiliate member of the rltrs board in Colo, I was able to rent an “e-key” and get in.
Here in Idaho, they’ve decided not to let us rent the Supra keys. I keep telling the rltrs that, as soon as they get tired of playing nursemaid to HI’s & others who have to get in, and pass the word on to the Powers That Be, the sooner they’ll change their policy.
Makes no sense to me. When they were on combo locks, the rltrs simply told the HI’s what the combination was. ANYbody could get in. Now, with an electronic signature, we are refused.

Same here. Just punch in a 4 digit pin and open the door. As long as it’s not before 9 am. I love them, I hope they continue to allow me to use them…It saves me time.
