The outside was bent down at the joint. Should this be written up? thanks

Appears to be cosmetic but could be an indication of other problems. What did the roof structure look like?

The roof structure in the attic looked great. Maybe if the joint was separated I should write it up.

Heath,

Looks to me like it was built that way. You can not always tell, sometimes you come across those optical illusions which make things appear worse than they really are, just by the way you are looking at them!

It is possible that is where the joint is and even more possible that where they decided to stop using their straight edge. ![icon_smile.gif](upload://b6iczyK1ETUUqRUc4PAkX83GF2O.gif)

It looks like a cosmetic issue, but I would definelty note it in the report. It looks like the plywood or OSB is the only thing holding up the eaves. It looks like it could be fixed with a long 2x4, a few screws and some paint.

Might be an idication that the lookout rafters dont have an adequate back span tied into the main roof rafters. This framing should have been visible from the inside of an unfinished attic … icon_wink.gif

They probably started the lookouts at the gable truss/rafter and not one in for the cantilever strength.

On top of that they probably pieced the fly rafter and it sags at that joint.

My thoughts...
