Master certification class homework, exterior, front door

Master certification class homework, exterior, front door.

Upon inspection of the front door, I observed, at the bottom of the trim where the trim meets the ground, there is evidence of water intrusion and a general lack of maintenance. If not addressed this could lead to a more serious water intrusion situation. Evaluation and correction by qualified handyman or professional is recommended.

If it’s wood rot just say that. You shouldn’t try to sound like a doctor.

It looks like rot has been painted over at the bottom of the casing and jamb.

If I had to guess I’d say Patrick is writing a required class essay…

What gave you that info?

What kind of evidence? Where?

Looks like moisture wicking with deterioration. Contact with concrete not ground.

But as @rkenney stated, keep it simple. Your report will be super duper long. Spend your narrative time on complex issues.

Thank you so much, contact with concrete.

Here is a simple narrative.

Main entry door has some deterioration at bottom of door jamb/trim both sides. Further deterioration or leaking may occur if not corrected. Recommend repair by qualified contractor.

If accessible check under the door at the rim joist. May see rot on the floor.

Such a great point. When I am in a crawl or basement, I pay special attention under doors and deck attachment. And, I tend to find termites around the rim joist that abuts to the garage and the front stoop.
