Tonight was our family’s last Friday night in our home alone, for a while. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service has approved us to sponsor a Ukrainian family of four for a year. I’ve never met any of them. I pick them up at the airport next Friday and they will be living with us.

I would have volunteered, but I have a family of six. One week with us and they would want to go back. We call that “from the frying pan to the fire”.
