If I recall correctly, it was one of the interNACHI courses that mentioned (not verbatim) that if an older member which has stood the test of time looks a little “iffy”, it may be ok. I’m not talking about condition, but talking about design. But if it’s new and “iffy”, take a closer look.
Not saying that would necessarily apply to this situation, but something to keep in mind if something new and “iffy” comes along.
