To All NACHI Members: If you need extra work, a nationwide company that coordinates all types of inspections throughout the U.S. for several Relocation companies, needs qualified inspectors that can perform any of the following inspections. Home Inspections, Radon Testing, Termite Inspections, Well flow & Coliform Bacteria, Septic Dye, Full Open Tank Septic Inspections, Stucco ID, Stucco Moisture Test (Must be EDI Certified, and Structural Engineers (P.E.). You must be willing to negotiate lower prices in return for as much work as we can provide in your area. Inspections must follow relocation protocol. If interested, email to MaryJo O’Hara at - Mohara@inspection1.com. Mention that you are a NACHI Member!.. Bob Wills

I did some work for them a couple of years ago. Slow pay. Had to call them to get paid. Dropped them. A friend of mine had the same experience - same results.

Richard, what do you consider slow pay? I just signed up with them and they told me that it would be 30 days for payment from the date of the inspection. Do they consistently go beyond that?

Rich,

I don’t know about two years ago, but they have since been bought out by a large corp, and I have never been payed late for any job (I’ve done hundreds)in the last almost two years. When I started with them there was a 45 day wait but since the takeover they’ve been saying 30. By the way, they are looking for inspectors throughout Texas now! Bob

I checked them out. They want to get you to do a HI with a check-off form, e-mail it to them (with pictures) for $150.00 and pest inspections for $50.00. icon_eek.gif I deecided to go take a nap. The problem here is that I refuse to lower my prices that much and anybody that does hurts us all. But I also recognize that some folks need the income to survive to get to where I am, so I may not agree with you if you lower your prices, but I understand if you must.

I agree with Bob. My pricing is fair and reasonable for the services I perform and I’m not interested in working for the practice. I do have other things I like to do! I’ve always been a little leery of operations who want me to cut my prices so that “their numbers” will work. icon_eek.gif

Sorry to be a "Wet Blanket" but my experience has always been that the out of town, nationwide, big-time operations are slow pays, it's a given, so why add insult to injury by cutting my prices.

Older and hopefully wiser!

All - Hey Lighten up, I just posted the information to help fellow NACHI members looking for some extra work who may be slow or starting out. It’s not so much lowering your prices as sharing a cut to get work you otherwise wouldn’t have. It’s no different then working for a company as an inspector and they get a large cut. To those in areas where it slows down immensely, these guys will continue to give you work non-stop. If you’re established and don’t need the work it’s simple, don’t respond to the post. I didn’t post this to debate right or wrong, nor to defend myself! I think people here are wise enough to check it out and decide for themselves if it is useful to them or not. I know many of top notch inspectors (NOT CHEAPO’S) That utilized their services including myself. Until I was around long enough to fill my own schedule, these guys kept me in business and the bills got paid. So I say, to those it may help along the way,Good Luck…Bob W.

Hi to Bob & fellow HI’s,

firstly thanks to Bob for the initial post, it is nice to think that fellow members are trying to help each other out, to be honest I have followed up Bob’s post, and am considering working with Inspection1, for two reasons A) I am just starting out and need the experience as much as the work B) I like eating !!!

My current business plan is based on doing 100 inspections this year @ $250:00 each plus testing, but if I have to do 150 @ $150:00 I would do it happily, It will give me 50% more experience and make me a better HI faster. To those who are established and successful - congratulations !! I hope to be in your ranks someday, but for now I’ll take what’s given and like it. Just a last thought many people who relocate in a hurry with work very quickly move again locally, the referral rate should be pretty high and at better money.

Thanks Bob W ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)

Gerry,

As I said, I really don't like it, it hurts us all. But, I do understand and any others who've had to eat beans for a month will too. Good luck and eventually you'll be able to tell the cut raters "I don't think so!".

Just for the Record, This company has contracts with the largest relocation firm in the country and subs the work to inspectors that sign to work with them! These relo firms would not hire just any inspector to perform these inspections, unless they go through inspection one. Therefore, this does NOT hurt anyone, and has nothing to do with lowering your prices to compete. The large relo companies will only go through companies such as inspection one that organize these inspections to their standards. Here, where there is a slow seaon, inspectors that have been around a long time do this as a supplement because you can’t just go to the unemployment office and collect all winter! Get the facts before making assumptions!..Bob

Gerry B. You are very welcome!

Joe M. I don’t get that impression and I don’t think the comment was called for ( although I do believe you can say whatever you want. I just wish your post was more constructive!)

Bob W. Thanks for the input. It’s always good to see someone trying to help out the other guy.

Thanks Bob Wills for referring me to Inspection1 2 months ago. I have had a good experience and appreciated the business to fill in during the slower season. For those of you who don’t need it, I would like to thank you for not getting involved because it increased the business that I have. To each their own and respect each other’s opinion. Let’s all work together.

Bob W,

Anyway...is this the company that lets inspectors bid on jobs? You can do it for this price and that inspector does it for this price. Sorry spuds, if you can not see how that is hurting everyone, you must be blind.

Jeff,

You lowlife....how could you? I would have gladly thrown you a couple of inspections.

Mike,

You are in no position to judge me or anyone else here. Just so happens I do most of the new member orientation for NACHI and I do it for free. I try hard to help new members and I share everything I can to help them.

Bob,

At least you and I agree on this one. Only I say out loud, it sucks. You are selling us out also!!! There, now I feel better! ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)

Joe, Joe, Joe,… What do you mean “How could you?”,… my oh my. Did I not say “to each their own”, “respect their opinion”? If you really wanted to throw me a couple, it is not too late you know!! You are one of the biggest b@## busters I know (next to me) Actually, on the actual inspection itself, they will up the price if it is a farther away and they have no one else in that area or if the home is a bit bigger. They paid me more for the termite than I charge, more for the well & bacteria test than I charge so for me it all averages out & sometimes works out better. The only downfall is waiting for the payment. Once you get past the initial payment lag, the checks are always coming in like normal.
