Never saw this before in attic

Saw this today in attic. House was built in 1979. The three cylinder looking items.

Looks like homemade insulation barriers to me.

Never seen that either Peter, my guess is that’s where they store the weed.

On another note, were there canned light installed below? Just grasping at straws here.

One was sealed. The open ones were empty.

What was the duct for? Bath fan?

No. That duct came from a different area.
There were more of these, I only took pics of three for this forum.

Were they fastened to anything?

I was not able to lift them.

Was this duct connected to them, or was it for something else as well?

That duct was for a bath exhaust and ran beside this cylinder.

Only things I can think of is:
A: For recessed light clearance to combustible materials.
B: Abandoned Flue/s.
Other than that, no answer.

Does that mean they were secured down, or you didn’t try, or you are trying to advance beyond 3 oz. curls? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
If they are sitting there loose, I guess they are some abandoned work.
We definitely find some interesting things. I found hundreds of Playboys in an attic, but not the Issue #1, darn it. Researching them for mold and pest damage took a while but that’s what we get paid to do…

Maybe it is someone’s brilliant idea of a heat recovery system?
