New construction drip edge

David,
The building code adopted in your area requires drip-edge flashing at the eaves and gables of all shingle roofs. IRC 2012 Section R905.2.8.5 DRIP EDGE.

Thanks Russell, I did call the city of Chattanooga’s code inspector just to clarify that the metal drip edge was required and was told the same thing you just mentioned.

I live in a 29 building, 156 owner HOA in PA which recently underwent a total roof replacement project and not only was drip edge required in the contract but the current code as well. It was left off my house and my neighbor’s behind the gutters on the main roof. Also according to another roofer “Kick Out Flashing” was left off as well. When reporting this issue to the HOA and township code officers it has gone no where. Again the damage that will occur will be years away.
