Introducing myself. I’m about midway thru the course and enjoying the learning experience. Loving the debates and counters most people are getting into.
Maybe I missed it but, can you hook up with local and fellow “Nachis” to learn the craft from the Nachi Elders in your area? I just moved from Saint Louis to Charolette and don’t have any connections to my new town yet and thought this would be a great way to learn the city as well.
Shadowing an inspector, frankly, depends on the inspectors in your area. I’ve had many shadow me over the years, but many inspectors are not all that welcoming to new competition. It’s tougher in smaller markets. Years ago, my cousin tried to get some mentoring in Midland-Odessa. The seven inspectors for that area, told him that they had it covered, but thanks for asking.
I’ve got a guy shadowing me on Monday. On one hand, we have plenty of inspectors for the amount of business in this downturn we are experiencing. But on the other hand, a committed guy/gal are going to be “damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.” If I can help one of those guys/gals to be a better inspector, then I believe that it helps all of us. If all inspectors are doing a great job, then more people will want inspections and the cry for regulation is diminished.
Welcome and good luck! When you get a question, ask, even if it’s a stupid question… I’ve had a couple here rub at me with some stupid questions that I asked (and seen some downright burns on other stupid questions), but I’ve always got good info and quickly too… damn good bunch here.
