Can nylon reducer bushings be used on a natural gas line?

Please provide a reference if it is a code violation.

Thanks in advance! ![icon_cool.gif](upload://oPnLkqdJc33Dyf2uA3TQwRkfhwd.gif)

What makes you think they’re nylon?

As long as the fittings are listed for their application, they can be used in gas piping.

"Transition" fittings (used to connect plastic to steel) look like they could be nylon. I'm not sure of their actual makeup.

Take a look at G2414.3, G2414.6 and G2414.11 of the IRC.

Is this what you are referring to above? This connects the underground poly pipe to the meter.

2414.6

That's either a misprint or an outdated reference.

Well Jeff, just an edumecated guess is what I would call it. If you opinion differs please share it with me what you think they are made of, they look like to old nylon bushings that were used on everything years ago. No cracks about my age now! ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)

No way to tell if they’re listed, but I wouldn’t get your nylons in a wad over it icon_biggrin.gif
