Hi All:

I receive a few of these types of messages from the field all of the time and when they relate to HI tasks, I will post them in this forum for further discussion.

Hi Joe,
Recently came across this device in an old 1892 Victorian. The owner does not know what it is for. Does it look like something that you may have seen before?

Hi Bruce: I looked into an old electrical contractor's catalog I own from 1928 and that receptacle was shown as a single 10 amp polarized receptacle.

I think it sold for about 50 cents!

This is weird, but I found this same device and configuration (next to a regular recep outlet) on my last inspection. Was it for some particular device? I found mine in a living room.

It is easier to change direction than it is to forget where one has been.

Ive got a strange feeling I’ve seen those used for telephone connections wayyyyyyy back in the day! predating even the old 4 prong phone jacks…

Did the person sending in the pic check it for voltage?
