I came across several 2-prong receptacle/jacks/outlets in an inspection the other day. The house was built in the late 70’s and is pretty much original i.e. carpets, appliances, etc. Even down to the FPE Stab-Loc panel and breakers. I only hope my client didn’t hear the sound effects I made when I saw the panel.
The 2-prong receptacles were located close to existing electrical receptacles throughout the house.
It has the old style 4-prong telephone jacks if that helps.
I am guessing they are associated with the phone system, just can't tell for sure. The thing I thought odd was a female plug that was inserted into some, not all, of the receptacles. The female plug looks like a loop back type plug and has Slater written on it. I planned on pulling one of the covers to take a look but got sidetracked by the obstinate dishwasher and never got back to it.
I submitted the pictures to the electrical photo gallery and will add them here when they are "approved".
I didn't commit either way when speaking with my client other than to say it may be associated with the phone system.
Added on Edit:
Doesn't look like something for TV but then I haven't seen it all and am still trying to get to the end of the internet. And yes I did Google Slater and that didn't help out much. Apparently they were bought out by someone else. They did make all types of receptacles. Didn't find any "odd" plugs though. But I do have Google set to semi-filter my results.
Here are the pictures if anyone is still willing to help.
This is the wall receptacle.
And....
This is the "loop back" type plug that was in some of them.
Thanks again for any help.
