Wadda beast. These two furnaces still operate, although I’m still recommending replacement for a myriad of deficiencies.

That Looks like asbestos Hard board in the front of the furnace .
Furnace could be from that age did the have coal gas in that area back then

These units had asbestos coming out of every orifice. . .
What a beast… Looks like you could heat treat steel in those things…

I would not be surprised if they were installed when the house was built.
They were about 4-1/2 feet high, 2-1/2 feet wide and 4 feet deep. They had to go in before the house was built
