Hi Charles,


the only way to kow if it does in fact contain asbestos is to have a sample analysed, if it does contain asbestos it then would be removed by licensed contractor working to EPA specs.

However, you would normally only consider testing and possible abatement if the asbestos fibers had become friable (were becomming airborn) or if the heating system was being totally replaced and thus the piping would be disturbed.

If the wrap is in good condition and well sealed I would just report that the insulation may be asbestos, and leave it at that.
