New to the forum. This may have been posted many times before. But I just became a licensed home inspector in the state of Illinois. I am interested in becoming certified to measure radon in homes. I can certainly use QA with another company in the beginning. I took and passed the NRFT exam. I am being told that it was not the correct exam to take. For NRFT I just took the radon class in this website annd passed the exam through NRPP. I assume that I need to pass the Radon measurement Professional course. Does anyone know of any study guides or courses that I can look into for this? And is the RMP course what I need to be taking in IL?
Isn’t Illinois a licensed state? Contact the appropriate state agency.
Yes. Of course not that easy. IEMA refers me to NRPP and NRPP says I need to contact IEMA. I’ll figure it out. Sent several emails and calls without response. I’ll just keep taking tests until I get the right one.
Brian, you can try contacting education@InterNACHI.org and they may be able to direct you helpfully. @bbrown60
Did you call them or just look at their web site? My state agency managing radon licensing has two contact people who manage licensing for both radon testing and mitigation. They are very informative and very available for questions. You shouldn’t have to guess what is required for licensing.
Yes. I have called and emailed both NRPP and IEMA. No one has ever answered the phone. The only reason I payed for and passed the RMFT test was because I was told to do it by NRPP. No one has ever answered a call from me. Once in awhile I’ll get an email back to contact the other agency and the process starts over. I’m going to get it done. Thank you to everyone for all the help.
Thanks Larry. I’ll try that
We are lucky in MN. They are running a pretty decent, easy to use licensing program for the most part.
