What books and reference material would you recommend for a rookie, not just for the library but for continuing education? Where is the best place to buy this material?

Thanks,

Stu

Stu, the code check series and the inspecting a house by Rex Caudwell, Both are available at a substantial savings to members. Contact me at membership@nachi.org or at 484-614-4353 and I will be happy to discuss it with you.

The “Home Reference Book” by Carson & Dunlop is Good; The Original “Code Check” is a must (A Field Guide To Building A Safe House); Rex Cauldwells Book “Inspecting A House” is good; Dearborn Publishings “Principles of Home Inspections” (Systems & Standards) is top drawer; Larry Reavis’s Book “Home Exam”; and PITI’s Home Inspection Manuals on “Electrical”, “Roofing”, and “Structural” are excellant.

Total Cost of the above reference library would be about $275 - $375.

Stu,

If you need a book, let me know. Until the NHITI store is up I can get you most of the books Dan listed above and just about any other on construction from HI to electrical to codes. Also if you order 5 or more, shipping will be free. The store is being built now, but it takes some time to get all the products on there.

Several of my friends used the PITI manuals; the Carson & Dunlop Book; and the Original Codecheck as their only source of study guides for the NHIE or CRI exam from NAHI and passed with flying colors.
