I don’t know if the below narrative would be considered a “fingerprint,” Lol.
Can you imagine how many inspectors out there may have written something similar without ever even knowing of RH’s existence?
I just copyrighted and claimed all of these as my own. Pay up Michael!
Bingo! Winner winner.
I couldn’t agree more. I have been asking Spectora for years at this point to allow us to self-host our reports. It’s ignored. And now here we are, faced with a huge problem for our business that wouldn’t be a problem if the reports were hosted on our own servers.
I have clients call me all the time to go over past reports. Agents too. This is terrible for everyone involved and while Spectora is singing the praises of how this is not really an impact to my business is just insulting. They don’t deal with my clients- I do.
What’s worse is that I don’t even think any of our reports have used the narratives in question. Just because they exist in the template, we are screwed.
I would also agree that this is a huge breach of trust and faith in the platform. SAAS is great until it isn’t. Especially when the people controlling your business aren’t the ones running it.
Well, on the bright side, it prevents RH from coming after us personally.
We’re trying to minimize impact. Of course there is impact when there is a settlement. It’s not ideal for all involved. Never meant any insult, just trying to help. FWIW it doesn’t matter where reports are hosted, if they have copywritten material in them, they can be discovered. And maybe you know more than I do about the self-hosted thing. Sounds complex.
Kevin, if you change your mind and want to fight this troll, I give you my word as a man and your friend and a member of our industry… you can count on me for up to $300K to pay the lawyers. That’s plenty enough.
As a representative of Spectora please answer a question that everyone really wants to know. Can you 100% confirm or deny that the information in an inspection report completed on Spectora software is used by or sold to anyone other than the inspector and the person that originally paid for the inspection?
Kevin, together we are at least 5 times stronger than Report Hoes, correct?
Sun Tsu in the Art of War says that when we are 5 times stronger than our enemy, we should attack them. I’ll fund it.
Yes- I understand- but I’m not even using these narratives. They just exist in the template. Them coming after me is the least of my concerns. Also remote publishing to ftp or sftp is pretty low level stuff. The reports are static html/css/js once it’s all done. There’s no way it’s too complicated. You guys just don’t want to lose control of the reports and have your “brand awareness” removed. Every inspection report published is an advertisement for you.
Forgive me for being rude, but this isn’t the first time Spectora has made major business decisions on my behalf and surprised me with it.
Completely preventable.
Nick can you help us help home owners in Florida that have been delivered homes that do not meet current Codes? Under AG Pam Bondi we a few battles.
If they’ve already settled what can be done? Sounds like we might be a little late to the party
The bad PR should be enough alone to sink them, in my opinion. Who claims to own (copyright) a basic narrative like this one? How could they even get a copyright on this phrase?
It’s not even properly worded, much less unique.
Kevin, for the InterNACHI Narrative Library, (I know it’s not your main concern right now) but I’ve written all my own narratives. Any claims by Report Host that I’ve plagiarized them are absolutely false!
My narrative library templates are registered with the US Copyright Office. Let me know if I can help clarify anything.
Kevin, in 100 years or less, neither of us will be alive. While we are here on earth, both in Colorado, let us live like men. Let’s fight! I’ll suit up.
Kevin, once we are victorious, everything will change. Air will smell better. Food will taste better. Sex will be better!
You should yearn for this battle. Ache for it. Seek it.
Just get me in the ring, I’ll slaughter this piddly dragon-wannabee.
Ok, I like the idea of going after these Meatheads, but now it’s getting weird, lol.
You took one line out of an entire post.
