Reporthost - JUST USE ANOTHER REPORTING SYSTEM!

I was using Reporthost for over 15 years until we had an argument1

So I started using another reporting system. When I had to return ro Reporthost, to gain access to previous reports for which I already had paid ($10 a shot BTW), I was REFUSED, because of an on-going dispute!

Irrelevant of this “dispute” I PAID FOR THESE REPORTS AND SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE OPEN ACCESS TO THEM!

REPORTHOST ARE BLOCKING ME FROM GETTING ANY PREVIOUS REPORTS (WHICH I PAID FOR) PERIOD!

Reporthost should be taken to court, sued and not used, as they are dishonest and VERY VINDICTIVE! DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE AND YOU WILL GET MY PROGRESS ITH MY COIMPLAINT TO THE FTC AGAINST THESE PEOPLE!

Sorry to hear about that Gilles. 15 years of doing business with them is a long time, and to be denied access to something that you paid for, isn’t right.

I hope it all works out for you.

That is exactly what you should do… Get an attorney and go after them…

I started out with RH. Glad I got out when I did. Wishing you well with this battle.

Obviously they should not be blocking access to previous work. However you, and any other user in this situation, have made a fatal mistake. It appears that you have stored all reports on their server with no offline copies anywhere under your control. It also sounds like before your demonstration to them that you were significantly unhappy about something you did not take the time to back up any reports on their site.

Business is business and I certainly would not trust my data to Mother Theresa without backing it up! For anyone using this or any other similar service you should use this as a lesson what not to do which is place 100% trust in a business you are paying for a service or product.

Curious… with Report Host or any of the other mainstream software programs, is the entire report generated and stored in the “cloud?” I use ISN but generate all my report locally and upload them so I always have copies. I am a bit nervous about all my agent/buyer data… not just being scoured. I’m sure that’s happening. I mean about losing access if I ever stop using them or have some kind of dispute.

We use HIP (Home Inspector Pro) and you keep it on your own computer/system as you actually upload it to HIP and then it goes to wherever you want to send it. Also, HIP keeps all uploaded reports in their cloud. We use ISN and it also maintains the report in their cloud. So we have access to our reports in any situation.

I’m pretty sure all of the reports that folks produce on their smartphones and moble devices are all cloud based programs and you are not able to maintain anything that is not on your device.

No I didn’t make that mistake as I have a copy of ALL previous reports! The big looser à
here is ReportHost! As they mentioned to me - and the comment should be used as their business philosophy “We are not interested in your business”!

There are a lot of excellent reporting software firms that offer the inspector services!

Case closed!

Most software firms are fine. There are exceptions and after a morethan 15 year “relationship”, I most certainly was entitled to a better treatment than this!

Then why do you need access to their cloud based copy? Why cry about it and just move on since you already did according to your post?

Long term “relationships” with companies and expecting them to treat you special are so gone anymore! Large companies do not care about their customers. After all they lose one here when they get pissed off and pick up another one there that gets pissed off at their provider. You are nothing more than “a number” and “a source of revenue” to be used and discarded when convenient to them.

Of course if it makes you feel good to rant here then go for it but don’t expect others to cry with you!

You do know that all report software that will host your reports in their cloud servers will go away once you stop paying for the service. Why wouldn’t you save your reports to a local hard drive for future access. I back up all my reports on an external drive. This is also why I own my software and do not have to pay a monthly fee for access.

This has absolutely nothing to do with ranting! It HAS TO DO WITH ACCESSING SOMETHING YOU HAVE PAID FOR!

I’ve been using 3D for 21 years, I started out using a Dell Axium 5 transfering directly between the my desktop and the handheld.

Now a days, I book the inspection using 3D on my desktop, (I’ve recently had to part ways with ISN because they won’t work with 3D anymore as far as transferring information between the systems) after I book the inspection, I then upload the inspection job to the cloud, then download it to my phone from the cloud, perform the inspection onsite recording defects and taking pictures with my phone, I then upload from my phone to the cloud, then back at the office, I download the completed report from the cloud to my desktop, put the final touches on the report, print it into a PDF file, and email the inspection report and any other reports that I may have performed for my client.

I have every report I’ve sent saved in PDF files. As far as I know, nothing gets saved on the cloud, this would cost $$$ that I don’t need to spend.

I pay 3D $149.00 a year, that price covers any updates, includes a few free tech support calls if needed, and use of the cloud.

So are you coming to the INACHI membership for help in getting recompense? Oh that’s right we have no pull with them. So at this point it is just ranting!

That is pretty much the same as how HIP works. The “cloud” is only used to transfer the data to and from the desktop. The Cloud based programs are like Spectora where you can complete the entire process on the moble device. I used 3D also for around fifteen years before I switched to HIP about fifteen years ago! Heck I was one of Carls first users when it was in DOS!

In Spectora, you can turn on automatic backup and pdf versions of your reports will be saved to your Google drive nightly. You can also manually save the pdf reports to anywhere you would like.

Not surprising. Reporthost has not had a great track record lately. They are now on their second lawsuit suing Spectora because they are butt hurt about losing market share.

So Spectora reports are saved or can be saved to your desktop or laptop computer or other harddrive?

Why is that so many were having trouble accessing reports when Spectora had the lawsuit and the useres could not access reports with certian verbaige?

Yes, the pdf report can.

Because most of us, and probably most clients, never even view the pdf. We mainly view the reports in HTML format (as a webpage basically). If Spectora goes down, or in the case of RH-Gate, the HTML report would not be available. So if you didn’t save a pdf of the report out of Spectora already, you would not be able to get it. Same goes for our clients.

I save every report in .PDF format on my personal computer and back up drive. I am considering adding an independent cloud service just case something happens locally (fire/flood)
