I hope all the pics don’t screw this up…
Metal tank...............suspicious
Found someone elses dye..........really suspicious
Inlet port not sealed & roots growing through, baffle deteriorating, cap deteriorated and most important: The liquid level rose above the inlet pipe with only 180gallons introduced.............unsat
The absorption area was clear at the time of any dye or liquid (hard to get everything with all the leaves).
The tank was shot, connection bad, ground water infiltration, probably a leaky tank because the original level was about 7 inches below the invert of the inlet pipe.
For those of you who just flush dye down the toilet and do not inspect the tank this is one of those cases that would burn you down the road. If the tank was not uncovered and opened up and I just ran dye I would not have found the problems that were there. There was no breakout to the surface that we could see.
I await comments........

Jeff,
It is quite obvious that these people had a bad lawn and decided to do something about it.
So... They allowed their own fertilization to work it's magic! ![icon_twisted.gif](upload://xjO326gspdTNE5QS3UTl0a0Rtvy.gif) ![icon_twisted.gif](upload://xjO326gspdTNE5QS3UTl0a0Rtvy.gif)
I personally do not go to that extent on septics as I am not qualified to do so but those deficincies certainly look rather obvious. Could you keep a straight face during that portion of your inspection????

Igor,
No, I only look for signs of non- performance…slow drains, smell outside, excessive water over septic and leaching bed etc.
To do anyhting with septics in my neck of the woods without being qualified can open a big can of worms, although some of my competitors do the dye test (whether or not they are qualifeid I do not know).
I plan on taking the course and getting licensed for septics as soon as I finish my Fire Prevention Officer course that will allow me to do fire code inspections on multiple unit dwellings.
