Short circuit

Check out this picture found on my inspection today

Not shorting yet but how much longer until it does?

Actually, it has shorted! It probably arcs accross the gap when the wind blows. Check out the discolored strands of AL wire on the service nuetral and also the burned insulation on the phase wire. Yikes! What a find.

Recommend immediate repairs by a licensed electrician. I would also call (or have my clien’t agent call) the listing agent or seller during the inspection to make them aware of this very dangerous situation.

This is responsibility of the POCO. A call to them will have the repairs / replacement done in a quick manner.

I believe BC Hydro only takes responsibility for the service drop (before the drip loop splice). This is actually after the splice on the service entrance conductors.
