I had a client write me about a month after my inspection asking what this pic is of. He’s looking at the small yellow item on the roof in the garage.
Just so I’m sure, this is a step-down transformer for low level lighting/doorbell/thermostat/etc right?

Back on subject…that is a doorbell transformer. 
It’s a low voltage transformer, like you said.
You, nor we can tell from here what it is connected to looking at a picture.
Seeing this is from a “client”, it appears that you inspected this house. Why don’t you know what it is for? I recommend you go back out there and follow up on your clients concerns/questions. You might learn something in the process. Cheap education…
LMAO, Thanks for chiming in late Dave and stating what I already said. I’ll give you some FREE education. Check up on your website for contradicting information, it can confuse your clients. Also not sure why you even hang out with us lowly home inspectors… Your main page clearly trashes us and our “screwdrivers” .
