Spective — a new mobile-first inspection app for 2026. What would make you switch?

Hey all — quick intro: I’m a software developer, and I built a mobile-first inspection app called Spective. The core is solid and in inspectors’ hands today — now I’m looking for feedback from people who actually do this work on where to take it next. My goal is to make Spective genuinely great for home inspectors without the bloated price tag — that’s why I’d rather hear it straight from you.

What it does today: guided walkthroughs with customizable templates, photos and videos attached to findings on the spot, one-tap client-ready PDF reports, plus scheduling and invoicing in one app. It’s mobile-first by design — run a full inspection from your phone or tablet on-site, with a companion desktop app for when you’re back at the office. Flat $29/mo, no per-seat tiers.

It’s live on Google Play now: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brainmonger.spective.home

The iOS version is up too: ‎Spective: Home App - App Store (Apple’s still indexing it for search).

Where I’d love your input: I’m deciding what to build next, and I’d rather build what inspectors actually want than guess. A few I’m weighing:

  • Re-inspection workflows (clone a report, track only the fixed items)
  • Mileage + expense tracking for tax time
  • Deeper report customization (templates per property type, custom sections)

If you do this day to day — which of these would genuinely move the needle, and what am I missing that should be higher on the list?

“What would make you switch?”

Is it free? That would likely persuade some people to take action.
Seriously $29/mo is way better than most are raping… um I mean… charging these days. I suspect that with the upcoming Al revolution that this pricing will continue to decrease.

Good luck.

I need a desktop version; I would not publish a report from my phone.

With the couple new software developers posting each month, I wonder when we hit the saturation point.

Interesting that you couldn’t have came up with a different name

I agree… Would not publish the report from a phone.

Op clearly says “with a companion desktop app for when you’re back at the office.”

No offense, but you’re the 20th person to say you have a new reporting app in the last 2 months.

So I don’t need another app I can download and test drive, I want to see the finished product. I’ve downloaded too many apps as it is just to find out they’re not all that, or are super powerful but less intuitive.

Competition is stiff out there. I hope you researched the other players. Cause most “new” apps are trying to solve a problem that has long since been solved and don’t do anything new.

What I need:

Ability to easily import my template

HTML reports the fit to the viewer’s screen.

Integration with ISN

Ability for team inspections

Ability for office staff to view/edit reports.

Assigning permissions by inspector

Tracking when the realtor and client open the report.

Real tech support.

It sounds like something that comes with a lot of side effects.

“Spective”… as in “Perspective”?
Just another ‘cutesy, wanna-be’ App/product from an unknown vendor, without a clue as to how this Industry operates.
JMHO.

Some people can’t handle the truth if it isn’t what they want to hear!

Hey Ian and everyone,

Apologies for the radio silence — I’ve been locked out of my InterNACHI account shortly after creating the post. I’m assuming someone reported it and unfortunately the moderators have not unlocked it for me yet. I’m attempting to message you through another guest account because I was still able to get notifications on this post, though I’m assuming this account get locked out as well so will probably stop interacting here.

Your “what I need” list was honestly the best feedback I’ve gotten on Spective. Specific, no fluff. Honest update against it:

Shipping in the next update:

- Import your template — one-tap CSV import. Bring an export from your current tool, name it, done.

- Tracking when the realtor/client opens the report — every view is logged, you get notified on the first open, view count shows on the inspection card.

Validating this week:

- ISN integration once they approve my test account.

On the roadmap:

- Team inspections + office staff view/edit + per-inspector permissions — these all need the same multi-user backend. Next major chunk after the current release cycle stabilizes. I’m still working through how this gets packaged; team accounts have a different cost profile than solo use so will likely be its own plan.

- HTML reports that fit the viewer’s screen — the shared web portal renders responsively; if you’ve seen it break on something, I’d love a screenshot.

- Real tech support — DM me at mailto:[email protected]. I built this, you get a real answer.

Thanks for the feedback. The only way is to keep doing the work and put it in front of inspectors who’ll be honest about it. Since it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to interact with the community here,

I’ll be happy to keep in touch through my email or if there’s another forum we could stay in touch.

Best Regards, Doron

Spective

Doron, you posted your thread in Vendors, yet you’re not a vendor member. If you want to sell your wares here, joining InterNACHI as a vendor member may give you a little more credibility and less likely be flagged for spam.
