Starting in Florida, Moving to California—Will My Inspection Training Carry Over?

Hi everyone! I just signed up for home inspection classes here in Florida, and I’m excited to get started! I do plan to move to California eventually, so I’m hoping to get some advice before I get too far along.

Does it still make sense to complete the Florida requirements and take the exam? Would any of that training or testing carry over to California, or would I essentially be starting over?

If anyone has made this move or knows the process, I’d really appreciate your insight. Thank you!

FL is a licensed state, and CA is not, so as far as that goes, moving to CA makes no difference. But the housing stock will be different, and you will need to learn about seismic stuff, which has some similarities to hurricane construction.

On top of that, in CA, you will pay state income tax and more for fuel and electricity, etc.

Kelly, it does not hurt, I am in California (Ihave certifications from two different states and National testing just to be educated, Along with Internachi courses it wont hurt) CA does follow a professional Code but your education from florida will be extensive and helpful in CA.. I hope you can afford to move to CA. I would take the classes, education always is helpful.

Did you lose a bet?
