Sump Pump Requirement for Ontario Canada

Hello, would anyone know what year sump pumps were made mandatory by Ontario Building Code or by the National Building Code?

Thanks for time and input

I don’t believe there is anything making sump pumps mandatory.
Where did you hear that they were?
Just curious

(1) Where gravity drainage is not practical, a covered sump with an automatic pump shall be installed to discharge the water into a sewer, drainage ditch or dry well. (b) sealed in accordance with Sentence 9.25. 3.3.
Where I live connection to storm sewer is not available so a sump pump is mandatory unless you can provide drainage by gravity approved by Chief Building Inspector.

In all new and existing homes in Ontario, adding a sump system is no longer allowed to drain into municipal storm water system.
The following is acceptable for foundation drainage as Per OBC. * To a sump pump, To a drywell 15 ft or more from building or to daylight.
All new sumps and updating of existing older sumps must be sealed and vented as per OBC referring to Radon control.

Morning.
I think you are asking the question wrong, Robert.
What particular part of the plumbing code are you pertaining or referring to?
